Testimonials from Chaminade High School, where Chris was a student, and Cantor Fitzgerald, where Chris worked.
Dear Family and Friends of Chris Slattery,
A difference!
Today, as we celebrate the Third Annual Chris Slattery Golf Classic you make a difference, just as Chris did in so many of our lives. By supporting today's open in a small or big way, you not only keep alive the wonderful spirit and enthusiasm of Chris but also make a real difference in the lives of today's young people at Chaminade High School. The Chris Slattery Burse helps to make the reality of a Catholic education possible. Without this scholarship, the recipient's family would not be able to afford tuition and the young man would not have the same opportunity that Chris and so many other young men have benefited from. Together with them, I extend a heartfelt, “Thank you.”
At Chaminade, we continue to form young men who will go out into our world and, like Chris, make a difference in ways that God has graced them to do. Today, we all celebrate and recall the many ways God graces us each and every day. We learned many lessons on 9/11/01 and recalled other lessons we had known, such as never to take any day or anyone for granted. The Chris Slattery Golf Classic brings those lessons back into focus.
On behalf of all of us at Chaminade High School, thanks for your generosity. May God and Our Lady bless each of you!
Sincerely,
Rev. James C. Williams, S.M. '87
President
Dear Friends,
On September 11, 2001, Cantor Fitzgerald and its affiliates lost 658 partners and employees to one of the most terrible tragedies in American history. While no longer with us, each one of them has a special place in my thoughts and prayers.
We all lost Christopher Slattery that day. Chris had been a part of the Cantor family for over seven years. He played a key role in our enormously successful Portfolio Trading team and often impressed his fellow workers with his intelligence and strong work ethic. He loved his job and it showed.
Chris's positive attitude was contagious. His co-workers remember him for his wonderful sense of humor, his love of the Giants and of long, high drives on the golf course - which is why this day is the perfect way to celebrate Chris's memory.
Chris is sorely missed and will never be forgotten.
The firm is committed to rebuilding itself and maintaining its market leadership - which Chris helped to build - not just for those that remain but to help care for and support the families of those we lost. I am proud to say that Chris Slattery worked for Cantor Fitzgerald and that his family will always be part of our family.
Sincerely,
